To whom it may concern I have a lady , in China , we wish to get married and live in China I currently have a a visitors L 1 visa how long can I stay in China with this visa and what is requirements do I need to fulfill to live in China with my wife without leaving the country we plan to wed this June , can you give me guidance , were should I fill out the paper here inn the USA before we get married or after while I am in China and if so were would I go inn China to fill out such paper work for a perminute visathank you for your  helpRobert

Robert, how long you can stay in China on a tourist L type mainly depends on the duration of stay of the L type. If you two get married, you can try to convert your L type to a spouse Q1 type, and then you can apply for a residence permit which can allow you to live in China for at least one year. If you get the marriage certificate in USA, you need to attest the marriage certificate at the embassy of China, and then it can be used to apply for the Q1 type.

follow up question to living in China Yes I a,followup question if I obtain a Q1 visa in China and after a yeas I have to leave according to the rules of the visa can I travel to Hong,Kong and stay there for a weekend and return to mainland China is this enough time or is is there a time as to how long you must've a it to return again into ChinaThank you again

Thank you for your help in your reply from my last question, I have another question please with a L1 visa after my 2 months is up on the visa how much time must pass before I can renter mainland China and if I go to Hong Kong and return back to mainland China after a weekend visit is this enough time as I thought this would be acceptable.Thank you again
