do you have to pick up your visa in person from the embassy in the uk?

Question

I am applying for a tourist visa to visit Shaghai.  I don't live near an Embassy and can't get time off to go in person to apply for and then pick up my visa later.  Can someone else collect my visa for me?

Deb, actually you need to apply from the CVASC office. If you don't have time to apply for and then pick up the visa, you can appoint someone else to do it for you or apply by post.
