About:China Train

Beijing stations

On my ticket it just says Beijing station, just checking that I don't have to go to Beijing west station or something

If it says "Beijing station" on your paper ticket, you need to board from Beijing Railway Station. Other Beijing west etc would not work. You need to go to the correct station shows on the paper ticket.
