I am Canadian citizen travelling to australia via beijing,  7 hours stop over beijing,  can I have any opportunity to come out from airport and visit beijing for few hours?

Yes, you can go out of the airport to do some sightseeing. The only concern is time, so plan it well. Apart from the time spent on the way and airport, you may have three hours for a short tour.
