About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Toronto-Guanzhou-Shanghai-Thailand-Guanzhou-Toronto

Would this itinerary be OK for the free transit visa? The China Southern flight is Toronto-Shanghai via a 3 hour stop over to change planes in Guanzhou.
