Leaving United States, arriving in otaru, Japan via ship thru russia. Flying sapporo thru shangha

What visa would be necessary. Only staying in shanghai 4 hrs, overnight in sapparo

Marilyn, you mean you will travel like US-Japan-Russia-Shanghai (4 hours)-Sapporo? If yes, you will be eligible for the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai. Visa will be unnecessary then.
