About:China Visa Exemption

Hi. I need to be in Xian for a few days, and I will be coming from Ulaanbaatar (ULN).

Can I fly from ULN to Xian (flight would route through Beijing), and then go from Xian out to Hong Kong (Or vice versa)? If i understand your information correctly, I dont think that this would be allowed. IF that is the case, is it possible to fly into beijing, take the train to Xian (and back), then fly from Beijing to Hong Kong?

Matt, if you want travel like that, you need to apply for a visa in advance.
