I am traveling on Hawaiian Airlines on a round trip ticket from Honolulu to Beijing. From Beijing I am taking a connecting flight on a LCC to Shanghai. When I arrive in Shanghai, I'd like to stay on a 144 hour free transit, then from Shanghai I am continuing to Okinawa, Japan. From there I am traveling to Macau for a few days and then back to Beijing for my return leg on Hawaiian Airlines. Will I need to pay for any visas on this travel?Thanks for your response!

That's not gonna happen, since you are switching planes for your first two legs of your trip. Get a visa while there's still time.
