Cora, Thank you for your reply. We just return from Bama. We took the train from Nanning ( Langdong station, the downtown one on Youai Lu) to Bama. The trip took about 6 hours. We had one pit stop at the halfway point of our trip. I heard that there will be a more direct route ( a new highway) in the year 2018. The bus trip will only take 2 hours or so I was told. Saw some construction that was part of the new road.We had a good trip. Bama is an interesting place to visit. The pace there can be much more slower and peaceful. Thanks again. Danb
PS; Since there are trains to BS City it might be a bit quicker to go by train from Nanning and then take a bus to Bama. I believe our RT ticket cost 240-260 yuan and the bus did travel up near BS but not into that city. The last 1-2 hour of the trip, the terrain transited from flat land to a mountainous narrow two lane road. The twisting and turning road with various speeding vehicle was an interesting ride. Had a very nice view of the countryside.
