Frederick. If so, you are not eligible for the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. In principle, you should fly to a third country or region after staying in Shanghai.

Hey thank you for replying. I am now thinking I get a single ticket to Shanghai from Philippines, then as my return ticket I fly to Taiwan as my third country. Could this work and could I get more than 144 hours in China?

Yes, this will work. Your stay length may be a little longer than 144 hours because the 144-hour limit counts from the day after your arrival.

And to enter China the way I'm doing, I would not need a Visa to enter?
