Planning a trip in March and have a rough itinerary

Hello again,
I forgot to mention a few things hence some clarifications:

1. Melbourne - Guangzhou would be transiting via Hong Kong (assume that doesn't matter)

2. the cheapest way to do this is to buy two tickets # 1 MEL-CAN + PEK-MEL and ticket #2 CAN-TPE + TPE-PEK. I'm assuming this doesn't matter either, but would be great to have clarification.

JDR, based on what you said, your travel route will be like MEL-HK-CAN (144 hours) –TPE- PEK (72 hours) -MEL, right? If yes, you are able to enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Guangzhou and the 72 hour free transit in Beijing. Have a nice trip!
