About:China Private Visit Visa

Can my dad apply for a Z visa rather than an S type?

My dad doesn't have an original document proving kinship as my birth certificate is here in China. Also, it seems like a lot of trouble and time consuming to write a letter to invite him, sign it, mail it, etc. So could he just apply for a Z type instead if an S type? He won't be staying here long, just 20 days. If so, can he just stay in a hotel 1 day and write that place on the form, then stay at my place, or how should he do it? Much thanks :)

Richy, if he has a job offer in China, he can apply for a work Z type directly. Otherwise, he cannot.
According to what you said, he doesn’t mean to work in China, so he’d better apply for an S type.

A tourist L type is also a good choice. And it is easy to get.
