About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am traveling with my family from the US to Sri Lanka (we have Sri Lanka visas

and are all US citizens). We are stopping in Shanghai for approx 35 hours and will stay overnight at a hotel in the city. What documentation do we need and what is the process?

Thanks!

Nothing other than your receipt of your onward ticket. You show the tickets to the immigration officers and they put a sticker on your passport.
