About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Can I book a flight from Hong Kong directly to Beijing, stay in Beijing for 48 hours

and then fly to Chicago? Or does the stop in Beijing have to be a long layover in transit and not a separate ticket?

Thanks!
