difference between single rooms and double occupancy room

I would like to know what the difference between single rooms and double occupancy room? I really don't understand.

A double room refers to a room with one large bed for two people. Each person just pays half room rate. A single room refers to a room with one single bed for one person. It means one person will enjoy one room.
