About:How to Apply for a China Visa

Shanghai Transit

My Family and I are on South African passports, now living in Hong Kong with valid identity cards. We are travelling to New Zealand on 16 December 2016 and have a two hour layover at Pudong International.
We are returning to Shanghai 7 January 2017 with a similar layover.

Do we require transit VISAs?

No, as the time is very short, you qualify for the 24-hour direct transit in Shanghai.

Appreciate your response - please advise in what capacity are you providing the feedback - are you perhaps an employee of a service centre that assist with VISA applications.

There's nothing you need to do beforehand.

If you doubt the authenticity of his answer, you should call Shanghai immigration instead to confirm.
