About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

My flights are 74 hours apart. What is my risk of not getting a transit visa?

I have a flight landing in Beiing at 11:20am. I have a flight leaving Beijing 3 days later at 1:25pm, so technically it's two hours longer than the 72 hour period. The post claims that the time doesn't start until 00:00 after landing, so I should be fine, but the post also says to play on the safe side and keep within the 72 hour time period. Am I at risk with my current flights? What is the likelihood that they refuse to offer me the 72 hour free transit, and what would I have to do if I was declined the free transit?

Thanks!

Regarding Beijing - rules have very recently changed to count the day of arrival as a part of the 72-hour period and not the day after arrival. Your itinerary would pass under the old rule but it looks like it no longer fits the current rule. I would call Beijing immigration for more information on the enforcement of the new rule, but chances are you may not even be able to board your flight.

As stated above, you are running a high risk that you'll be denied boarding at your departure airport. Airlines will use Timatic as their reference, and currently it clearly states maximum 72 hours for Beijing. This is taken as scheduled arrival to scheduled departure. If you can change your onward flight to an earlier time then you should do so to avoid this risk.
