Visit my parents-in-law twice a year

I am a Turkish national but I visit my wife's parents (in China) twice a year; each visit is usually 2 weeks long. Every time I apply for a Q2 type at the embassy, I am only given 6 months double entry one even if I request a longer validity and applying visa twice a year is quite time consuming.

Is it possible to convert my Q2 type into some sort of multi-entry long term residence permit in Local Entry Exit Department in China?

Aaron, it is possible for you to convert the Q2 type to Q1 type, and then you can apply for a residence permit which will allow you to enter and exit China for multiple times.
