About:Chinese Table Manners

is it satisfying to Chinese people when we (as tourists) eat foods without any leftover?

what does it mean when I visited my Chinese friend and her mother offered me a meal with bowl, after that i left it empty, she smiled to me and without even asking my permission she gave another bowl and of course i left empty again.

Yes, eating food without leftover means that the dishes are really delicious. The host will feel happy about it.

It's traditional that one leave a little bit of food on the plate or on the serving platter. To eat the very last bits suggests that the hostess has not offered enough food. The consequence might be that you get more food immediately - a hostess cannot let a guest go hungry! - or that the hostess feel bad that she has not planned well enough.
