How to get to Beijing (Great Wall) from Shanghai?

Hi,

We want to go to the wall but we are coming from Shanghai. I know that we have to ride speed train to get to Beijing, but from Beijing (station name?) is there nearby budget hotel from Beijing station? Also, from that hotel it is easy to get to Badaling and how?

Which section of the wall best to visit and why?

Thanks you so much

You can take a high speed train at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and the train arrives at Beijing South Railway Station. Upon arrival, it is suggested you check in Qiaoyuan Hotel which is on the south side of the Second Ring Road. You can take a 20 minutes' walk northwards to get to the hotel.
Badaling section is highly recommended for it is the best-preserved and the most famous Wall sections of the country. To get there, you can take subway line 4 from Beijing South Railway Station to Xuanwumen and then change to line 2 to Jishuitan; use Exit B2 and then walk eastwards to take bus no. 877 to go directly to Badaling.
