Normally three days are enough to cover the main attractions of Hangzhou city. As you have six days, you can explore some areas near Hangzhou, like water towns. Hereunder is a suggested 4-day itinerary for your reference, if you are interested, you may extend your trip to Shanghai or Suzhou by high speed train for two days:
Day 01: West Lake
Day 02: Lingyin Temple
Day 03: Thousand Islets Lake or Xixi National Wetland Park
Day 04: Wuzhen Water Town or Xitang Water Town

As for shopping, you can go to Wulin Square, Qinghefang Street, Southern Song Imperial Street.

The second class ticket from Hangzhou to Suzhou is CNY111.5 per ticket and CNY77.5 per ticket from Hangzhou to Shanghai.
