I'm traveling from Germany to Singapore via Shangai. I hold an Indian passport with Germany permanent residency. As transit time is nearly 20 hours , what type of transit visa is required for short trip in Shangai (outside airport) ?

Sheela, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai if you travel like that, so there is no need to apply for any entry permit. You just need to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the airport and then you can leave the airport to the city.
