About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

I am an Indian Citizen and traveling from US to Malaysia.

I am planning to buy two separate tickets one to Beijing and other from Beijing to Malaysia as it works out cheaper. The flights leave within 12 hrs. Can I go and get the 24 hr visa on arrival, as I am assuming I would have to go outside to collect the luggage and recheck with the second airline (As that is a separate ticket).

Yes, you can still use the 24h direct transit policy if you are holding seperate tickets. You need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport immigration counter to go outside and collect your luggage.
