HI Admins :) I'm a Philippine passport holder

and my Chinese friend is inviting me to come in Shanghai for his birthday, what should we do first Sir/ Ma'am? does he need to send me an invitation first or do i need to submit the invitation when I pass my requirements to the embassy? Thank you so much . Hope i can get a response :)
