Yes, it is possible, but you’d better apply for it one month earlier before your trip because the application process may take 4 to 6 weeks if your application needs to be processed in HK immigration department.

Processing time 4-6 weeks is not the most accurate information . Do you have a friend who is a HK citizen? If yes, get the sponsor application 1003B (downloadable) filled by him/her and process time is 4-5 working DAYS when submitted to Chinese embassy here. There's no need to send documents to HK immigration.

Hello Dear Sir/madam.
