About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

I have applied for a tourist visa to china but it hasn't been approved yet

My plan was to fly into China from Bali and then take the trans mongolian railway to Ulaanbaatar and then on to Russia. Would it be possible for me to enter China with my British passport and apply for a 72 hour free transit and then when my tourist L type is approved (on my Australian passport/dual nationality) and then continue my travel by train as planned.

Harry, you won’t qualify for the 72 hour free transit if you travel like that because the 72 hour free transit is only applicable to air travelers, so I’m afraid you cannot do that. You need to wait and after your application is approved, you can enter China.
