I'm a pilot picking up an airplane

I'm a pilot picking up an airplane in China and departing immediately for America. Do I need a Chinese visa for this and if so what kind do I need?

May I know which city you will stop and how long it will take? Maybe you are able to enjoy the free transit, in this way, you don’t need to apply for an entry permit.
