If I fly to Shanghai with a 2 night stopover, join a cruise ship with 2 nights in Beijing Port

We are arriving in Shanghai from London, staying in a hotel for two nights then embarking on a cruise ship with a two night stop in port in Beijing. Can we use the 144 hour or 72 hour free visa for this?
