Hong kong Tourist Visa- Invitation letter

I'm planning to visit HK for leisure in December (Just 3 days) I have a friend who is a HK citizen who can send me an invitation letter. Is that sufficient OR do I need this thing called 'red seal letter'?
If so, how can my friend in HK get it.
Honestly, is this lettera MANDATORY document or optional?
