About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Overstaying 144-hour free visa due to uncontrollable circumstance

We are planning to be in Shanghai/Hangzhou for 6 days and therefore just within the 144-hour free allowance. I am wondering what the implication would be if our outbound flight got delayed or cancelled and therefore we overstayed the 144-hour allowance?

Joe, don't worry. If that occurs, you just need to go to the local police, explain your situation and apply for a normal visa, so that you won't overstay.
