About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

Hi, I am asking for my wife. She is a mainland Chinese citizen

however she resides in Canada as a permanent resident. We are planning to visit Hong Kong and Macau all within 7 days. Does she need an entry permit?
Our flight will be from Vancouver to Shanghai (layover) then into Hong Kong. Does she need a visa if we are entering from Shanghai due to the layover?

Hi Brian, if your wife will travel from Shanghai to HK then to Macau or another country, she doesn't need the entry permit for HK. As she has Canadaian permanetn residence, she doesn't need the entry permit for Macau.

Oh interesting. Thank you for your reply!
I ended up going to get one anyway yesterday. Now it's being processed. The person at the embassy didn't tell us we didn't need one! :(
Thanks again though.
Brian
