Visiting Friends from Kuwait

Hi. I'm an American working in Kuwait looking for a tourist visa or visitation visa to visit my girlfriend and friends who are Chinese nationals in Changsha and to travel with them to Yannen for Chinese New Year. Do I need to set up an appointment with the chinese embassy here in kuwait? What documents would I need? I have the travel and return dates already as well as all of her information answered in Chinese in a document.

You don’t need to make an appointment in advance.
In order to obtain a tourist L visa for PRC, you need to provide those materials containing your passport and its copy, a completed application form, a passport-style photo, your residence permit in Kuwait, and an invitation letter from your girlfriend.
