About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Direct transit with two cities?

I'm a U.S. Citizen with a round trip ticket from San Francisco to Seoul. On my return, I fly from Seoul to Kunming where I have an 18 hour overnight layover until my connecting flight to Qingdao where I have a 13 hour overnight layover before my final flight to San Francisco. Since I'm not entering and leaving China from the same city, can I get a transit visa to leave either or both airports to go to my hotel(s)?

Thanks in advance!

As your transit time is over 24h you can't use the free transit policy and have to apply for a tourist visa in advance.
And as you have 2 stops in China you can't use the 72h twov too.

Thanks for the info, Thomas. Not good news i'm afraid. My choices now are to either spend two nights in a row in airports or drive 7 hrs. RT to my nearest consulate in S.F. and stay in hotels for 4-5 nights waiting to collect a $140 visa. Lastly I could pay a visa service company, but with the visa fee, that would cost almost as much as my RT ticket from S.F.- Seoul.
