Travel with passport copy or visa

Dear,

As a part of my travelling group will be applying for a Residence Permit our passports will be at the Shanghai Police Station for about two weeks.
This means we cannot take the physical passports during our travels by train.
Is it possible to travel with a copy of our passport and visa ?

Hope to hear from you soon,

According to the policy, you need the original passport for travel. However, you can have a try to collect the paper ticket by using your passport copy or the receipt for the residence permit. If you can collect the paper out by using these document, they should be able to work for boarding as well. Hope for your a good luck.
