About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

We are flying from Canada directly to Shanghai and arrive in Shanghai Oct. 13.

We leave Shanghai on October 18 and fly directly to Chiang Mai Thailand. We have Canadian passports. Do we qualify for the 144 hour visa exemption?
