Amarpal, if you travel like that, you cannot enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. You need to apply for a tourist L type beforehand. If you travel to HK after staying in Shanghai for less than 144 hours, and then travel back to Delhi from HK, you can enjoy the free transit in Shanghai. In this case, no entry permit will be needed.
