Study in China and internship

Hi, I am from the U.S. I am plan to study abroad in Beijing for 5 month(one semester), and then find an internship in China as well. So I will probably stay in China for 8month, what kind of entry permit should I apply, epecially if I am doing combination of two type, first is academic study, then working(internship). Do I have to request a change in Visa type when I officially get an internship offer in China? Thanks

Yanlin, you need to apply for a student X type for your study in PRC.
For the internship, I’m afraid you need to apply for an M type or F type. Or a work Z type may be needed for the internship if it is paid. You can change the X type to M type, F type or Z type after finishing your study.

It's possible to apply from there. If you fail to do that, you need to return to the US to reapply.
