canadian visiting hk, want to add 2 days to shanghai

Question

I'm going to be in HK for 2 weeks in November, can I go to Shanghai for 2 days and back to HK and connect a flight ( different airline) back to Canada on the same day ? thanks

Wendy, if so, you need to apply for a tourist L type for Shanghai beforehand. But if you fly like HK-Shanghai-Canada, no entry permit will be needed because you will qualify for the free transit in Shanghai.
