About:Policy for Foreigners with Immediate Family Living in China

Hi there, I already got a L tourist visa w/ 10 years validity & 60 days duration of stay.

I am a US passport holder and live in the States, but I am planning to go China to visit my grandparents whom raised me when I was a child, because they are getting old so I want to show my appreciation and stay in China for about 8 months to take care of them. My grandparents are Guangdong Guangzhou residents.

My concern is it is very inconvenience with that 60 days allowed they granted me. What should I do? Can I change the visa type? or Should I apply for a new one? where should I go to inquire info about this matter?

Look forward for your response. Thanks in advance

Because you hold 10-year tourist L type, you can entry PRC for multiple times. So after you enter PRC and stay for 60 days, you can exit PRC and then re-enter to stay for another 60 days. In this case, you can stay for 8 months in total.
Of course, you can also choose to apply for another type, you can apply for an S2 type which can allow you to stay for not more than 180 days each time. You can go to the exit and entry administration of the local PSB to inquire about it after you enter PRC, or inquire about it at the embassy of PRC in US.
