bike rental & return on xian city wall

Question

We are arriving around 6pm. Can still rental the bike ? If we can't return on time 20:00 at south gate. What can we do for our return?

It may be achievable in summer, because it doesn't get dark around 18:00. Otherwise, the bike rental and return may be unavailable for the sake of safety. But you can still visit on the wall after that time for the night view. The South Gate won't close until 22:00. Just enjoy your time.
