After entering PRC, you need to prepare those documents containing your passport, the application form, a half-length color photo, registration form of temporary residence, physical examination report, and the admission letter as well as other materials the consular officers consider necessary. And then go to the exit and entry administration of the local PSB to apply for the residence permit.
