Guizhou Minority Festivals October 2016

I am planning to travel to Kaili in the last week this October, mainly to visit the Minority festival I believe will take place in Chong'an Oct. 24 - 26 and in Gulong from October 27 - 29. When is the best time to visit and would it be of advantage to stay there for the duration. I am fascinated by meeting the people, their customs and costumes. I appreciate any advice as far as travelling the region in and around Kaili, sincerely Hans from Switzerland.

October is a good time to visit Kaili. As I know, the largest minorities in this region should be Miao. If you are lucky, you may join the New Year festival of Miao group, which is generally during the October~November. Good luck!

Thank you, Ivan.
I should have formulated my questions more specifically:
- can anybody give me specific dates and locations when and where minority festivals take place between October 24 and October 29, 2016 in the Regions accessible from Kaili, Guizhou?
I truly appreciate any pointers :-)

It is highly recommended you experience the Miao New Year Festival in Leishan County. You can take a coach from Kaili Passenger Station to the county directly.
Last year, the festival lasted for 2 months from November to the end of the December. The schedule for this year has not been published yet. If possible, it is suggested you extend the tour to join in the grand ceremony. There are fabulous performances in major scenic areas, such as Langde Miao Village, Xijiang Qianhu Village, and Leigonshan Nature Reserve.
