About:Policy for Foreigners with Immediate Family Living in China

My Chinese girl friend is pregnant. We plan to live together as a couple in China with my mother.

Hi I am Michael, UK citizen. I am 26 years old. I have visited China several times with 3 months tourist L type between 2014-2016. My mother is 65 years old and a German Citizen. My Chinese girl friend is pregnant. We are not married. She lives in Guangzhou. For now we plan to live together in PRC for few years before getting married. Is this possible in PRC? We are both students with little savings. I have stopped my masters in england and got permission to finish my studies through online due to my personal circumstances. What is the cheapest way to get residence visa for few years to live in PRC. I am taking care of my mother now. So i have to take my mother to PRC with me as well. Is the European health insurance of my mother valid in PRC?

Michael, you cannot apply for a Q type to enter PRC and live there because you and your girlfriend haven’t got married.
Currently, I’m afraid you can only find a job in PRC and then apply for a work Z type which will allow you to get a residence permit and your mother can apply for an S1 type then. In this case, your mother and you can enter PRC and live there.
As for European health insurance, you are advised to contact with the relevant authorities in your home country. I’m not sure about that.

Thanks a lot Jay for your time and advice! Appreciate it very much. As i have to continue finishing my masters in China. Is it possible to do a Work part time in China. For example teaching English in a school for children. Or give private tuition. And still get residence permit?
