bypass visa with 6 hour stopover?

Hi, I`m a German, doing an Internship in Singapore. In the end of September I want to fly from Singapore to Shanghai and return. With direkt return to Singapore, my route is not eligible, right? What about a 6 hour stopover in Kuala Lumpur? Is my route then eligible and I qualify for the 144 hour free pass?

If you will stop in Kuala Lumpur before returning to Singapore, your travel route will be Singapore-Shanghai-Malaysia-Singapore, and then you will be able to enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai.
