About:China Customs Declaration

Old jewellery, family gifts taking to china. How much tax we have to pay?

Old jewellery , no gold coins. No gold bars. Chains and bangles. Rings, no package. Taking as gifts to
my wife. How much tax per ounce, to be paid?

If their totally value is over CNY2,000, you are required to make a declaration and pay the tax at a rate of 60%.

I read that upto 2 ounces of gold is allowed tax free, reasonable quantity, for personal use and as gifts to family. Not in salable display packaging.

Two ounces is 56.70 Grammys. Tax free and no need to declare.
But if in any doubt, safer to declare, punishment can affect your visa to China.
Not worth risking visa refusal.
