Need old passport

I n husband planning to Beijing this October..but my agent called n ask for old passport..i do have my 1st passport issue in 1988 but I couldn't find my 2nd passport issue in 2011 , any other 2nd opinion to apply the visa. Can I use my 1st passport to apply. Are we able to get the visa
