Foreign Bridesmaid at a Chinese wedding

You give some great advice so I thought you might be able to help me please. I am going to be a bridesmaid for my Chinese friends wedding in China and would like some tips please on what to expect, what the bridesmaid duties are and what I am expected to provide as a wedding gift. I have read a lot about Chinese weddings, but I haven't found much about bridesmaid duties. If you could offer some advice I would appreciate it. I think it will be a fairly modern wedding with traditional elements as well.
