About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US citizens with a 26 hour layover in Beijing. Wanted to do some sightseeing while we're there.

Wanted to know if we needed to apply for a visa or do we qualify for the 72 free transit?

John, if you will fly to a third country or region rather than the last one you fly from after stopping in Beijing, you can enjoy the 72 hour free transit in Beijing and you are able to do some sightseeing in the city. No entry permit is required then.
