how can we take our only child of age 5 with us when we both husbandwife have x1

Situation is this that we both husband n wife have applied for X1 type and we wish to take our son along but embassy said u can't unless u both got residency permit, So which  type we should apply for him and my brother is living in PRC he is also living there on X1 type so can he invite my son on S1 or S2 type?

You can first only PRC on the student X1 type and then get the temporary residence permit in PRC. After, your son can apply for an S1 type to enter PRC and live with you.Or your brother can issue an invitation letter to you, and then you can apply for an S2 type for your son. After entering PRC and you get the residence permit, you can try to convert your son’s S2 type to S1 type.
