Is an appointment for HK Passport renewal needed to be made ?

Hello again. I have tried a few times to ring the Brisbane office but can't get through. Do I need to make an appointment to renew my Hong Kong Passport in Brisbane ? I have all the forms completed and photos etc. but have to travel from Gold Coast so didn't want to waste the time if I needed to make the appointment before attending in person in Brisbane. Also, can the Hong Passport Renewal be handled by sending to the Brisbane PO Box by mail ? If so, how does the Passport get sent out to me or do I have to go into Brisbane to collect ? If it gets sent out to me, do I get a Notice in the mail - then collect from the local Post Office (showing my ID) or does the Passport actually get mailed direct out to me ? I don't think mailing direct to me is very secure for a Passport. Thanks in advance for your replies to the several questions asked above.

You need to make an appointment to renew your passport.
I’m afraid you need to collect the passport at the consulate general of PRC in Brisbane on your own.
